What we do
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, shows where focus is, and never hides the focused control under a sticky bar.
- Text meets WCAG contrast in light and dark mode, including partner blog themes, whose colours are adjusted where a partner’s palette would fall short.
- Controls have names a screen reader can announce, and errors and progress are announced without moving your focus.
- Anything you can reorder by dragging can also be moved with buttons, and pages reflow to a 320-pixel-wide screen without scrolling sideways.
- We honour your device’s reduced-motion setting.
How we check
Our code is checked against accessibility rules before it can be committed. We scan our pages against WCAG 2.2 AA in light and dark mode, audit our core flows with a keyboard alone, and check them with a screen reader.
Known limitations
- Printable PDFs of blog posts and Quartly issues are not yet tagged for screen readers. The same content is available as an accessible web page.
- Content partners write themselves, such as recipe text and photos on their blogs, is theirs; we give them the tools to make it accessible.
- Security checks on some forms are provided by Cloudflare Turnstile, a third-party service.
